Tuina-Chinese bodywork
| The Chinese bodywork, called Tuina, is one of traditional Chinese medical treatments. Tuina is named after two technical names, Tui and Na. Although Tuina practitioners usually use meridian theory to guide their clinical practice, most of therapists combine Chinese medicine with modern medicine to understand and treat medical problems. There are more than 50 different Tuina manipulation techniques including distinct Chinese techniques, acupressions, chiropractic movements, osteopathic manipulations, and massages. |  |

Several processes have been proposed to explain Tuina's effects. Since Tuina works on acupuncture points, it seems to able to affect nerve activity and brain neurochemistry as acupuncture does. It is scientifically proved to enhance blood circulation and correct abnormal anatomical changes. Direct muscular relaxation is no doubt a sure mechanism as well. Further scientific studies are definitely needed to fully understand the mechanisms of action of Tuina.
